Jack White’s record label and conveyor of all things vinyl, Third Man Records, have teamed up with Detroit luxury brand Shinola to create a new turntable worthy to grace any audiophiles record room.
As you’d expect from Third Man Records, the new turntable’s appeal is immediately in its design, featuring a black, rounded edge base and typical flourishes of the record label’s signature yellow on the viewable drive belt and platter base.
Retailing at a hefty $2,500, the hand-built deck features a built-in, switchable phono preamplifier and belt-driven pulley able to switch speeds between 33 ⅓ and 45 RPM. For you Ortofon lovers out there, the turntable also comes equipped with their ever-popular Ortofon Blue phono cartridge and features many components manufactured and engineered by the American favourite of turntable manufacturing, VPI Industries. The deck will also come with a rather nifty looking black leather slipmat emblazoned with the Third Man Records logo.
Third Man Records have released turntables before, many of which are still available through the website, but these have mainly been entry-level decks through collaborations with companies such as Crosley or Pro-Ject. They’ve also released special edition products such as a mini turntable that plays 3-inch discs specially designed for the deck – for Record Store Day this year they even pumped out six different 3-inch singles from Jack White’s previous band, The White Stripes.
You can check out more info about the record player and pre-order the product through the Third Man Records Website. The turntable will ship from the on-sale date on Black Friday, November 29th 2019. There will be a limited edition run of this turntable, so if you want to get your greedy little hands on this, then you will have to act fast! The other option is to wait until Black Friday and hope for a discount…don’t blame us though if this doesn’t happen or it’s already sold out!
