New Music Fridays – 7th May 2021

May 7, 2021 by Jamie Parmenter

Ameliarose

May is here and it’s bringing with it some great music! Before you check in with the weekend, enjoy some of the great tracks below to get you started. From edgy pop to grungy indie to flowing Americana, there really is something for everyone. As always, click the pics for a listen.

Ameliarose – GOLIATH

Ameliarose

With a bold and edgy, beat-driven sound, Ameliarose mixes genres seamlessly in the beautifully produced GOLIATH. A darkly-tinged atmosphere builds seductively against a piano track before exploding in a chorus of heavy, fuzzy guitar and eclectic vocals that are intense and heartfelt. It’s an intriguing and addictive track with strong harmonies that just get better and better with each listen.

Easy Wanderlings – Enemy

Easy Wanderlings

An introductory track from the band’s upcoming EP Caught In A Parade, Enemy injects soft and soulful rock into your veins which slowly effervesces and builds in a warm and inviting way. The airy backing vocals further enhance the track’s pleasing nature as laid-back guitar filters through when needed and drums hold it all together in a subtle way. Pure, chilled-out perfection.

Broken Bear – Bleach It

Broken Bear

Alt-rock duo Broken Bear bring a grungy, muddy, desolate tone to the forefront that’s difficult not to get lost in. Vocalist and guitarist Laura leads the line and brings a softness to their track Bleach It, giving it the perfect amount of edge and sincerity to help it really stand out. It’s got a lovely haunting tone about it that just gets stuck in your head and won’t let go.

Jack Francis – Silver Lining

Jack Francis

Part of the growing breed of UK Americana acts, Jack Francis’s rangy voice commands over track Silver Lining. Making great use of intermittent Hammond organ and a slowly building atmosphere, the chorus comes alive against female backing vocals and a delightful, soulful flow. It’s a wonderful reminder of the diverse sounds that always come out of the UK, and long may it continue.
