Welcome to December, people! We’ve made it! Only one month more of 2020! It’s been a difficult year for many but one thing that’s kept everyone sane is music. Speaking of music, we have four tracks below that you NEED to wrap your ears around. From dirty rock to serene pop and country folk, it’s a real taste of what 2020 has offered up. Bad Flamingo – Dead Man’s Hand
Bad Flamingo return to New Music Fridays once more showing just how much we love them over at Vinyl Chapters. Their addictively dirty rock blues sounds is back and stronger than ever in the seedy and inventive Dead Man’s Hand. Sounding like a mix between The Kills and The White Stripes with a seedy but addictive atmosphere, the sultry but commanding vocals lead the track forward through it’s dark and mysterious turns. A truly addictive and creative track.
Beau Turrentine – Corduroy
Featuring a jaunty, country-folk sound, Corduroy bounces along on a sea of nostalgia. The guitar-work enlightens the distinct vocal track with Beau clearly enjoying himself. The chorus allows the track to really reverberate through your brain as subtle rhythms build and fall away in a pleasantly seductive style. At the end of the day, the track is just a joy to listen to.
Gold Spectacles – Lothario
Gold Spectacles lofi baroque-pop sound is a delight to behold and really comes to life on Lothario. Chopped guitars and a sunny disposition feature against bells sampled from a local church and gorgeous vocals that really come into their own in the chorus. You can’t help but feel happy when listening – the sign of a well-constructed piece of music.
Cloudy June – Goodbye to Honeymoon
This is an interesting one. Performed by Cloudy June – an ex-metal singer -, she’s really changed her mentality by opting for a more electro-pop sound to her solo material. Goodbye to Honeymoon deals with the feelings of fading love in a relationship, managing to bring out sincerity and sadness amongst big beats, subtle breakdowns and strong vocals. A mesmerising piece of pop that shows the singer is one to watch out for.
