Here’s one for you video game and superhero lovers out there. The soundtrack to the upcoming Marvel Avengers video game is to get a vinyl release through Mondo in collaboration with Hollywood records.
The game, which is released on September 4th, lets the player take control of a plethora of Marvel characters including Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Captain America in an original Avengers story that we’re sure will be full of thrills, spills, explosions, fighting and plot twists. It also introduces Ms. Marvel to a major video game for the first time who is rumoured to be a big focus in the storyline.
The music score is provided by the talented Bobby Tahouri who has previously worked on other high profile video games releases such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, so expect epic, sweeping soundscapes to accompany the on-screen antics.
The release is pressed onto a red, yellow, and blue tri-coloured 180 gram disc with the sleeve and housing showing off some pretty awesome artwork by Phantom City Creative. There is also a pure black vinyl edition available if you prefer the classic look.
Although the game itself isn’t out until September, there is a beta version available where you will be able to hear the soundtrack in action as you play. The vinyl soundtrack is set to be shipped around October after the game is released, but you can pre-order now through the Mondo website.
Vinyl and video game soundtracks are getting a lot more love in recent years, and with good cause – the music these days, in many cases, stands out on its own merit. Check out our article on vinyl and video games for more insight into this joining of forces.
