Lyndol Descant: Let It All Krumble – Single Review

March 2, 2021 by Jamie Parmenter

Lyndol Descant

Lyndol Descant delivers a playful yet poignant delve into her life on the fluctuating and intriguing, Let It All Krumble.

Inspired to give expression to the struggle of creatives, single Let It All Krumble is here to give people hope when things are hard. Although being in a creative industry can be difficult, Lyndol believes this makes her feel alive and portrays this here through pleasing shifts in tone and lyrics based on her personal experiences.

Lyndol Descant - Let It Krumble

Gentle bell-like piano tones and Lyndol’s delicate yet soulful vocals start the track as she starts to build her story of hardship, struggle, and living through your art by having to hustle. The track is then completely turned on its head with a change of pace as a brighter and more playful sound leaps out at the listener. She peers through her difficulties to realise she’s doing what she loves: “Nothing around me shines, still my mind sees the light”.

This change of outlook is slightly jarring at first, but you just can’t help but get swept up in Lyndol’s positivity and outlook on life as the funky atmosphere grows and gets more vibrant before once again settling down to that opening vocal and piano track.

The way the song switches between sultry and slow to upbeat and vibrant works very well and shows off the dexterity and songwriting abilities of the singer. It also allows her vocals to play with two different tonal styles, nailing both in their own separate ways.

Let It All Krumble is two differing attitudes rolled into one skittish yet spirited track. Lyndol Descant manages to open her heart to the listener by discussing hardships, but rather than dwelling on them sees the lighter side and brings this to the forefront. It’s a clever way to show off her writing talent and works really well.

Score: 3.5/5
