New Music Fridays – 6th August 2021

August 6, 2021 by Jamie Parmenter

45acidbabies

The first NMF of August 2021 is here! This week we’ve got some fantastic tracks for you to discover. From indie rock to settled summery sounds, we’re hell-bent on enjoying our indie rock this week. As always click the pics for a listen.

45ACIDBABIES – Don’t 4get To Smile

45ACIDBABIES

With hypnotic, thumping drums, a seductive bass riff and sweet as honey vocals, Don’t 4get To Smile romps forward on a sea of changing flows, settled synths and an inventive atmosphere. With a powerful and enigmatic rock-infused pop sound, the four-piece are really having fun here, mixing things up when necessary and bringing the listener along for a thrilling ride.

J.J Summer – Never Realised

JJ Summer

With a warm and inviting atmosphere against echo-laden guitars and synthy, dreamy soundscapes, the track then settles down into a bassy, drum-led groove focused on the intertwining vocals of Jim Harding and Summer Sprake. Never Realised is a good representation of what the band can offer, with hazy days and summer evenings being drawn to the forefront of your imagination.

Pave the Jungle – Picture of Health

Pave the Jungle

Newcastle duo Pave the Jungle hit home hard with new single Picture of Health. With a frantic beginning, the track then settles down into a pulsing, rock-infused sound that then wakes up the senses in a rollicking chorus. With vocalist Racheal opening up about mental scars and underlying health issues in the lyrics, it’s a track that has hidden depths and draws its power from pent-up emotion. An intriguing listen.

Novacain – Shine On Me

Novacain

Indie rock ‘n’ rollers Novacain bring back a happy sound to the genre with new single Shine On Me. With a riff-driven taste and a playful flow, you could say they sound like a happier Manics. Instead of trying to stand out they just let their songs do the talking with catchy tracks that are super enjoyable to listen to and this is a prime example. The section with trumpets before the breakdown is just the icing on the cake.
