New Music Fridays – 4th February 2022

February 4, 2022 by Jamie Parmenter

Welcome to February, music fans! There are a lot of good albums scheduled to be released this month, so why not whet your appetite by taking in some of our favourite tracks we’ve stumbled across this week? As always, click the pics for a listen.

Alix Page – True + Honest

Alix Page

SoCal native Alix page invites us into her inclusive, storytelling world in the beautiful True + Honest. Written when she was sixteen about a troublesome relationship, the track’s stripped-back nature perfectly allows her wonderful vocals to shine without taking anything away from them. A truly mesmerising track that you can just listen to over and over again.

JJ Slater – Till the Sun Goes Down

JJ Slater

With a live feel and a folk-rock twist, JJ Slater’s vocals skate over the subtle rhythms and warm energy created in Till the Sun Goes Down. Based around trying to assert yourself and shed burdening other people, you can almost imagine people sat around a campfire as Slater plays on, everyone being lifted by the lyrical finesse and good vibes. A satisfying and playful track.

Casie Dubie – Blue and Golden

Casie Dubie

Exploring duality in all its forms, Blue and Golden from Casie Dubie dutifully bounds forward on a settled beat before piano and drums join in to provide warmth, elegance and stature. The way the track ebbs and flows between the energetic and the serene is a wonderful mix, showing both sides of the coin and keeping in line with the song’s message.

Elodie Rêverie – Casa I don’t know

Elodie

With quiet confidence and ever-growing elegance, Casa I Don’t Know from Elodie Rêverie is the perfect mix of style and substance. Starting off with a gentle piano track against brightly flagrant vocals, Rêverie moves the track into a catchy beat-driven chorus that swamps the mind and builds delightful energy. She then pulls the atmosphere back into a dreamy flow before once again letting go. A lovely listen.
