New Music Fridays – 30th July 2021

July 30, 2021 by Jamie Parmenter

Blue Violet

And just like that, it’s the end of July. We cap off the end of the month with some wonderful tracks for this week’s NMF through songs that will caress the soul and give you a real dose of the feels. From indie pop to retro soul and sultry grooves, check out our recommendations below and click the pics for a listen.

Blue Violet – White Beaches

Blue Violet

The new single from Anglo-Scottish duo Blue Violet is a hypnotic gem of wistful pop that creeps out of its shell in a mesmerising way. Ethereal vocals steadily grow in power as the track drivers a rallying cry for the protection of the planet from the human race. Heavy topics are played against a contradicting dreamy atmosphere which works well to create something that little bit different.

Billy the Kid – Dreamin’ of My Love

Billy The Kid

With a whimsical retro-soul charm, Dreamin’ of My Love by Billy the Kid flows forward in a settled yet playful fashion and floating on a cloud of happiness. It’s a beautifully structured track with vocals that soar high when needed and hold the track together in a wonderful way. With great guitar work and powerful wind sections, it’s one of those tracks you can just sit back and get lost in.

MOLTENO – Our House Is On Fire

MOLTENO

If dreamy alt-pop is your thing, you’re going to really enjoy MOLTENO’s new track, Our House Is On Fire. Featuring beautiful harmonies against synthy flows and distorted drums, the track moves through a fog of moody guitar as it takes you on an emotive journey in a haunting yet intriguing atmosphere. Based around home not feeling like home anymore, MOLTENO deals with this topic as a person who’s been through it. A strong account of difficult times.

Lennie Rayen – Like You Do

Lennie Rayen

With a gentle yet sultry flow reminiscent of Lana Del Rey, Rayen’s Like You Do has that same atmosphere but also builds on a more dreamy landscape that shines through in the verses. The production helps bring the track to life when needed and Rayen’s vocals glide over the top in an addictive way. The track then comes to life as drums are added into the mix.
