New Music Fridays – 19th November 2021

November 19, 2021 by Jamie Parmenter

Jessica Wilde

As the month of November moves ever onward, we are able to relish in a new week of fantastic, fresh tunes. This time we have some energetic indie-rock, thoughtful folk and on top of that, some soulful sounds. As always, click the pics for a listen.

Jessica Wilde – LA Boy

Jessica Wilde - LA Boy

Jessica Wilde makes her second appearance on New Music Fridays with the sublime LA Boy. Once again perfectly mixing soulful sounds, hip-hop beats and perfectly arranged bars, Wilde tells a story of normal everyday situations against heartbreak and romance. With a laid-back trip-hop style, the track saunters forward with confidence against a warm rhythm to get you through those darker days.

The Thing With Feathers – Static

Static

Nashville-based rockers The Thing With Feathers show off their catchy, indie-rock sound on new single Static. With an atmospheric, anthemic sound the track builds through guitar-based playfulness and gruff vocals towards a hard-hitting chorus that will be stuck in your head for days. The track really builds well and shows great skill in songwriting to just let it simmer before exploding in indie loveliness.

His His – In The Wind

His His

Inspired by a rainy afternoon in his apartment bedroom, His His presents In the Wind;i a sultry, settled and inviting experience. Recorded in the empty space of an old wooden loft, the lofi bedroom sound grows in stature as drums kick in, providing the backdrop for the down-tempo vibe and inviting vocal work. You can almost see the rain dripping down the window pane as you listen.

moodring – Poison

moodring

From a small town in Oklahoma, the duo that makes up moodring show off their indie-folk sensibilities in new track Posion. It’s a beautifully pondering sound that reminds of bands like Snail Mail or Soccer Mommy but with more of a 90s twist. The track meanders onwards, perfectly content to explore its own avenues and mesmerise the listener into a more relaxed state.
