New Music Fridays – 18th February 2022

February 18, 2022 by Jamie Parmenter

GOON

We’ve got some corkers on you this week in New Music Fridays. From bluesy rock to chilled-out psychedelia to fuzzy guitar riffs, each track strikes right into your soul. As always, click the pics for a listen.

GOON – Fruiting Body

Goon

Inspired by a long walk on a rainy day along the LA river, Fruiting Body caresses the soul like a gentle summer stroll. As blooming harmonies gradually unfold against calming, serene vocals, the track is the perfect escape from everyday life into a dreamy swelling sound of harmony.

Widowspeak – The Jacket

Widowspeak

The title track off their forthcoming sixth studio album, The Jacket by Widowspeak is a raw, hypnotizing sound that’s impossible to resist. With fuzzy yet settled guitars perfectly balanced against the sweet and innocent vocals, the stripped-back sound somehow feels powerful and enigmatic against the guitar playing. A true song of opposites attract.

Electric Candlelight – Don’t Turn

Electric Candlelight

Blues, blood, sweat and tears is the only way to describe Electric Candlelight’s Don’t Turn. Powerful, addictive lyrical flows are draped over playful guitars that melt in rock n roll glory and build a seductively sleek yet raw sound that is fun, perfectly executed and will have you coming back for more. Awesome.

Thaïti – Disco Kahuna

Disco Kahuna

The Disco Kahuna, a character based on a local dance legend in Nijmegen (Netherlands) plays the lead in this gently pulsating track with psychedelic flavours, floaty vocals and funky electro energy. It’s a track that suddenly comes alive and will leave you looking for the nearest dancefloor, wherever you are. Surf, spaghetti western, grooviness and an 80s sheen, it’s all here to enjoy.
