New Music Fridays – 15th October 2021

October 15, 2021 by Jamie Parmenter

Cathy Jain

We’re mostly throwing you into a dreamy haze with this week’s New Music Friday; the perfect 4 tracks to settle the mind and bring some serenity into your life. As always, click the picks for a listen!

Cathy Jain – green screen

Cathy Jain

Cathy Jain’s R&B-tinged alt-pop is literally the stuff of dreams, and nothing shows off her delightful sound more than the track, green screen. With a subtle flair but ethereal atmosphere, Jain’s vocals envelop the soul and hook into the mind with an endless spirit and gentle flow. It’s just one of those mesmerising tracks that you could play for days and still not get bored of.

Wreath – Etching

Wreath

An acoustic-based slow burner, Etching by Wreath features beautiful harmonies, subtle layers and a dreamy atmosphere that’s hard to resist. With a warmth and honesty to the lyrics, the track captures a charming nostalgia that brings the listener towards a reminiscent place. It’s a track that you can almost join in with as memories swamp your mind amongst the wonderful melodies.

Chloe Lilac – 19

Chloe Lilac

Brooklyn-based Chole Lilac hits us with an indie, alt-pop grower in the wonderfully flagrant, 19. Starting off slow and steady but building to a raucous, twisted chorus. Lilac focuses on everything that’s happened in the last two years amidst and honest scrutiny of today’s world. With a fantastic vocal performance and catchy rhythms, the track shows off how much the youth of today have had to recently take on.

Joshua Speers – Long Way Down

Joshua Speers

Taken from his third EP, Midnight Horses, Joshua Speers’ Long Way Down shows of the artist’s addictive vocals against settled beats and a bolshy attitude. It’s a finely crafted track that links the verses and choruses in a subtle yet playful way before Speers takes us on a winding journey of joy and humility. A fine track.
