New Music Fridays – 14th August 2020

August 14, 2020 by Jamie Parmenter

Rook Monroe

Welcome, Wilkommen, Bienvenidos! With a fantastic mix of tracks on this week’s New Music Fridays, you really have to just dive right in to discover these gems. Lofi pop, epic Funk and energetic guitar all make and appearance this week so bring in your weekend in the best way possible by clicking the pics below for a listen!

Rook Monroe – Jolie

Rook Monroe - Jolie

With a dreamy, lofi atmosphere, Rook Monroe effortlessly creates a belt-laden party pop track that’s relaxed and playful. The chorus is what really stands out here, managing to capture a summer-laden vibe that begs to be played on a hot day as you chill with your friends or loved ones. The production really helps pull everything together with the vocals suiting the track perfectly.

Stretch Soul Gang – Ain’t That Easy

Stretch Soul Gang - Ain't That Easy

Starting as a traditional soul track, Ain’t That Easy grew naturally into the funky, playful atmosphere you hear before you now. With fast-paced bass holding everything together, the vocals slide over the top as sax fills in the gaps and drums provide the steady changes. The hip-hop vocals just provide that extra layer that really make it stand out. Original and vibrant.

Julian Frampton Band – Quicksand

Julian Frampton Band - Quicksand

The slow-building Quicksand takes its time to get to where it wants to go, but when it arrives it hits hard. With a bit of psyche rock, an energetic chorus and some playful guitar work, the track ebbs and flows to perfection against some emotion-laden vocals that revel in the atmosphere. A strong track that begs to be heard more than once.
