Hannah Grace: Remedy – Album Review

November 16, 2020 by Laura Bevan

Hannah Grace

Hannah Grace releases new album Remedy featuring beautiful music that can’t be missed. Combined with slow, piano accompaniments and a vocal range that is out of this world, it’s hard not to be captured into Hannah’s world.

The opening track Healing Hands is the perfect song to express the tone for the rest of this album. The heartfelt lyrics matched with choral-like harmonies are so angelic and truly shows that sometimes simplicity really can be the key to great music.

We also hear Different Kind Of Love which, although follows the same path, uses some subtle jazz undertones to stop the track from sounding too similar to the previous and accentuates the strength in her voice. The stab chords in the chorus reinforce the lyrics “you and me have a different kind of love” which is a stunning touch to the storytelling.

Of course, not every track uses the same four-chord piano progression. Break The Pattern and The Bed You Made focus heavily on the acoustic guitar and whilst Break The Pattern sounds like an easy-going track; The Bed You Made talks about the hurt you feel when someone you care about is with someone else. The lyric; “the bed you made yourself to lie in with somebody else” in the chorus stands out hugely and holds the perfect balance of honesty and vulnerability just in that one line.

Closer is one of the more upbeat tracks about being so infatuated with someone that it allows you to love yourself. The funky bassline is a new addition to this album and it really works. Working alongside the arpeggiated falsetto vocal in the chorus, this could just well be one of the best tracks on this record.

It’s obvious that Hannah Grace’s powerful vocals are her strong suit and there is no stopping this Welsh Adele when it comes to her voice. Not only can she produce a falsetto sound just as powerful as her chest sound, but her emotions are also expressed clearly in every phrase. In the track Praise Your Piano her vocal tricks are flawless and will leave you with your mouth wide open, completely in awe of her talents. That isn’t even half of it.

If you want to witness a talent so pure and effortless with songs that make the world feel timeless, then Hannah Grace and Remedy is definitely one to savour.

Score: 4/5
